How to set up reviewer groups

How to set up reviewer groups

1. Navigate to Time Off, then, under Manage Time Off, click Reviewer Groups.

Any time off policies you've created that aren't assigned to reviewer groups will be set to auto-approve time off requests from employees. To review your unassigned policies, click Show Unassigned Policies.

2. Click + Add New Reviewer Group, or if you don't have any existing reviewer groups, click + Create a New Reviewer Group.

3. From the Reviewers dropdown, select who you want to review time off requests made using the specified policy.

There are four reviewer options to choose from:
  1. Employee's Manager: Requests will be sent to the employee's manager(s). For help with assigning managers to employees, check out our article on How to set an employee's manager.
  2. Primary Department Leads: Requests will be sent to the lead(s) of the employee's Primary Department. For help with setting a Primary Department, check out our article on How to set the Primary Team or Department for employees.
  3. Primary Team Leads: Requests will be sent to the lead(s) of the employee's Primary Team. For help with setting a Primary Team, check out our article on How to set the Primary Team or Department for employees.
  4. A Specific Employee: Requests will be sent to an employee that you specify.
You can add multiple reviewer types to a single group. This means you can have both the employee's manager and the Department/Team Lead as reviewers. To add additional reviewers, click the + button.

To remove reviewers, click the - button.

4. From the Assigned Policies dropdown, select the policies you want to be reviewed by this group.

To add an additional policy to the reviewer group, click the dropdown again and add the desired policy.

To remove a policy from a reviewer group, click the x button next to the policy.

5. To adjust further reviewer settings, click Show more settings.

If you want to make sure that all of the reviewers in a reviewer group approve the time off request, select All Reviewers under Who needs to review requests? Otherwise, select Any ReviewerIf you have selected the All Reviewers option, then everyone must approve. Otherwise, the request is denied. All reviewers will receive the request simultaneously; if one rejects the request, it will disappear from the pending requests reviewers' list.

In some situations, there may not be an acceptable reviewer based on the group settings you've created (for example, if Employee's Manager is set as the reviewer but the employee doesn't have a manager). By default, requests without acceptable reviewers will be sent to your organization's Rise admin; select Allow auto-approval if you want these requests to be approved automatically.

6. Once you've finished creating your reviewer group(s), click Save.
