Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Org chart

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Org chart

Can the org chart be hidden?

Yes, we can hide the org chart from all employees except Owners and Admins. Just send us a message at support.risepeople.com and we’ll help you out. Coming soon, you’ll be able to hide the org chart yourself from within Roles & Permissions. For more on Roles & Permissions, check out our article on How to manage employee roles and permissions.

Can I hide an individual from the org chart?

Yes. To hide an individual from the org chart, remove their primary manager and make sure that they are not set as anyone's primary manager.

The org chart is blank, what do I do?

Review who should be at the top of your org chart. In order to display correctly, the person at the top level shouldn’t report to anyone else and should not have a primary manager.

What do I do if employees are missing from the org chart?

Review the employee’s profile and ensure that they have a primary manager. Also check that the reporting structure is correct and that they do not report to an employee who reports back to them.

Which employees show in the org chart?

All active employees show in the org chart, including employees on long term disability (LTD) or other types of leave.

Will seasonal or temporary employees show in the org chart?

Seasonal and temporary employees will show in the org chart if they are active and have been assigned a primary manager.

When an employee is terminated, how soon is the org chart updated?

When an employee’s status is changed to terminated, the org chart will be updated immediately.

Who is a primary manager?

An employee’s primary manager is the person they’ll be displayed under in the org chart. Setting a manager as an employee’s primary manager does not impact any functions within Rise outside of the org chart. For more, check out our article on How to set an employee’s primary manager.

Do I need someone to be set as a primary manager for all employees so they can approve time off requests?

You don’t need to set someone as the manager for all employees to approve time off requests. Instead, you can create a reviewer group that includes that person and then set that group to review all time off requests. For more on how to create and assign reviewer groups, check out our article on How to set up reviewer groups.

There’s missing or incorrect info in the org chart. What should I do?

If you’re seeing missing or incorrect info in your org chart, the first thing you should do is review your employees’ profiles, especially reporting relationships. The org chart uses employees’ primary managers to display the reporting structure and cannot display circular reporting relationships (when two employees report to one another). If the employee’s position is incorrect in the org chart, you can change it with a Journey Event from their profile. For details, check out our article on How do I change an employee’s position.

Can I hide certain people, teams, or departments from the org chart?

At this time, all active employees are displayed on the org chart. If you don’t wish to share the org chart with your employees, please reach out to our support team at support.risepeople.com.
