How to assign vacant shifts in Rise Scheduling & Time Tracking

1. To open a schedule, click Schedules in the navigation menu on the left-hand side, and click the schedule’s name to open it. You can also click the Calendar icon to open the schedule.


2. You can create vacant shifts to plan ahead for expected busy times and later assign to employees. To learn more about vacant shifts, check out our How to create shifts in Rise Scheduling & Time Tracking article. To assign a vacant shift, simply drag and drop the shift to the employee’s row on the desired date.


3. If the parameters of the vacant shift match an employee, you’ll see the shift assigned to the employee.


4. If the parameters of the shift don’t match the employee, the background colour of that shift will change to red and a red dot will appear next to the employee. To learn more about how to manage and publish shifts, read our How to manage shifts in Rise Scheduling & Time Tracking article.
